An update on the site

My blog began as JOSHGUITARS (dot) com, and as JOSH (dot) GUITARS for short, or @JOSHGUITARS on social media. In 2008, I became a touring, professional guitar player, and in 2012, I began writing about my life as a musician. That blog amassed a high readership, and I had a ton of followers on social media. I made a ton of friends. I got a ton of free stuff. I traveled, went to conventions, went to shows.

In 2015—I think it was 2015—I had a crisis of conviction and left social media behind. I purified and simplified, and for years I became a minimalist as I tried to pay off my consumer debt and shake off the dust of my public persona and all of that work. I deleted @JOSHGUITARS and all of those followers, and I changed the name of this blog to JOSHTHOMPSON (dot) net. My name: Josh Thompson.

Several years later, on a Friday the 13th in 2020, I decided to make a return to social media. I would return in a limited capacity. @JOSHGUITARS was reborn.

COVID happened, life happened, a lot happened, and I decided to take a vow of silence and not blog, and I maintained that through 2022. Today, on another Friday the 13th, in January 2023, I’ve decided to start blogging again. I have played on a ton of gigs since I last blogged, and have a ton of gigs coming up, and later this year I’m going to play in Taiwan! So I’ll be blogging all that.

The blog is going to stay JOSHTHOMPSON (dot) net for now, because I think I lost that JOSHGUITARS domain name. I’ve gotta check an old Namecheap account I had. UPDATE FROM THE FUTURE: joshguitars.com IS BACK.

TL;DR: We back. We fully back
